I called in TechKnowSolve to resolve a database-connection problem at one of my clients. When I migrated the XYZ database to a new server, I couldn't get the XYZ workstations to connect with the XYZ server. I thought it was probably a SQL Server issue but was wondering whether it was due to problems with Windows Server 2008. After trying many things without success and not getting a resolution from XYZ tech support, I figured it was time to call in a SQL Server expert.
In a two-minute phone call, Lis Baccigaluppi pinpointed the issue: a SQL Server connection failure. Then she remoted into the server, changed some settings in SQL Server Configuration Manager, tested the connection -- and solved the problem in 10 minutes! What a relief to have the problem solved! And what a pleasure to work with Lis! Next time I'll call her in at the beginning.
